The A-HA moment!

"Heard it from a friend who...heard it from a friend who....heard from another you’ve been ..."

If you’re familiar with the classic song Take It On The Run by REO Speedwagon, you’ll know the damage that rumours can do to someone. It can ruin their professional reputation, personal life, and have a devastating ripple effect.   Still, people believe what they want to, without even a bat of an eyelash. You can show someone all the facts, all the proof, and they'll turn a blind eye.

There is a part of me that doesn't want to question someone’s integrity or intentions, especially when I’m told something that sounds so convincing and true. However, my rational brain (truly thankful for my husband who continues to help me so much with becoming a more rational person instead of letting my emotions carry me away) tells me s-t-o-p for a minute and sure enough, everything my heart wants to believe so badly is a lie, a filthy lie.  It can be heart-wrenching at times, and wrestling with the consequences of knowing. Our brains are fascinating but known to play tricks on us all the time.

My Epiphany

I have cried more during this pandemic, out of frustration, anger,  sadness, loneliness, betrayal, the whole gamut, and it’s mainly because I wanted control over what deep down I knew I couldn’t ever control. We are all responsible for our own actions, an apology is meaningless unless you actually acknowledge your part and leave out the unhelpful  “but” response.  Hardly anyone knows how to do that, and if they do, I am the first person to give them a high five, well a virtual high five at the current time, but you get my drift.

I think the treatment we choose to accept in any part of our lives, really does hold a certain level of power. If we allow others to harm us, we lose confidence in our abilities, we lose a bit more of ourselves, and we get bitter and vengeful.  This in turn says to our body, ALERT ALERT, and our cortisol spikes and sets us up for acute issues that can definitely turn into chronic conditions.  Living proof of that.

Enlightenment came to me when I realized that it is equally healthy to accept or not accept an apology. There should be no guilt attached. Like everyone else, I am really under no order to proceed with a relationship, a friendship, a business contact, or whatever the case may be. Why? Because I set my limits, and it's finally about me, instead of worrying about what everyone else's expectations are. The only thing we can control is our reaction to what this world throws at us, and that is ultimately what gives me back my power, and maybe you too.

One thing I will hold onto very dearly in 2022 is this quote from Mark Twain, which says it all:

“If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.”

๐Ÿ’•Happy holidays to my readers, and I'll see you back here in 2022.

New Years Eve 2020

In every song, I can feel an emotion and in every emotion, I can hear a song.

Tonight is another nudge to remind me of this, as we head into 2021.

The ups and downs, the highs and lows, and all the unexpected thrills and chills that we go through, brings us back to the simple notion of a little thing we call life!

Happy New Year everyone!

Here are a few highlights below to enjoy of the little show we put on last night online to support some of our very talented performing artists in Windsor-Essex County.

I'll see you back in January for more musings.

That's a Wrap: A Virtual Holiday Celebration

A special thank you to Windsor Local (written by Laryssa Brooks) for mentioning Nuvo Entertainment in this article and spreading the word on our show!

https://www.thewindsorlocal.ca/news/business/santa-goes-virtual-for-a-pandemic-christmas-in-windsor-essex

So this was me, Melfy the Elf, last night getting dressed, as I would be performing in our Virtual Santa Magic Show! I am usually behind the camera, but on Christmas Eve, Santa calls the shots!

This was one of the letters we received from a few sweet kids who watched the show.

Finally, I'd like to wish my blog followers a very Merry Christmas/Happy Holiday/or just overall good wishes if you don't celebrate at all!  Please stay safe and healthy. If you must go out, wear your mask - and wear it properly! Navigating Covid-19 has been a challenge on so many levels, but by setting aside the urge to engage in defiant behaviour, this will help slow the spread down in our community and hopefully elsewhere too.  As I write this, we are heading for a more serious lockdown.

All about BEE-ing Safe: Wear A Mask

Today is a BEE-utiful day in Windsor and i'm out for a walk in our area.  Hard to breathe in this mask, but hi everyone!

Hope during COVID-19

It's hard for me to articulate my words right now, as each day feels as overwhelming as the next. However, i'm going to try.

๐ŸŒŸThank you to ....

๐Ÿ‘‰all the workers in a health care position working at the hospitals, retirement homes, and other medical facilities who are doing their best to save lives and provide mental health support to those of us who need it - on any level.

๐Ÿ‘‰all the grocery clerks who are working around the clock, putting products on the shelves so everyone can feed themselves and their families

๐Ÿ‘‰all the educators for continuing your passion for teaching in whatever capacity that is and not giving up on your students

๐Ÿ‘‰the residents of Windsor-Essex County (and beyond) for supporting each other in so many ways, big and small - I've been connected with some amazing people I never knew before

๐Ÿ‘‰all the entertainers who have lost all their gigs until an undetermined amount of time, you're appreciated and valued more than you know, keep on creating, singing, dancing, juggling, making us laugh, and whatever else you have up your sleeves

๐Ÿ‘‰those who are debunking and reporting fake emails/stories/videos and other messages regarding COVID-19, to protect our most vulnerable right now

๐Ÿ‘‰all the local restaurants still providing customers with amazing food, take-out/delivery service and a great big smile, even though we know you're hurting too

๐Ÿ‘‰those who have reached out to someone else in the community, whether that's a family member, friend, neighbour, or a total stranger and provided emotional support, financial aid, or simply offered to pick up some extra toilet paper

the list goes on and on....

Just thank you ALL for being superstars. I'm proud to know you.

Nuvo Entertainment Presents: Science Magic

I really have no words as to what has been happening with COVID-19.

It's been a difficult time for everyone and pretty devastating for so many industries. It's even more challenging for those in the performing world.  All gigs are cancelled.... until when? Who knows. Our city here in Windsor, Ontario has been supporting one another and really coming together as a community. It's quite amazing to see and be part of.

The Internet has been a real blessing to connect with others and be able to still perform in some capacity.

Here are some awesome videos that were done by Nuvo Entertainment below to enjoy.

These ones are all science-related, so you can learn and have fun too!

Drop me a note and let me know how YOU are doing.

Please stay safe and healthy everyone.
