Father's Day 2017

Well we had a really special Father's Day this year. Bill suggested that we take my Dad to see Elvis perform! Of course, not the real Elvis (he is deceased) although some people claim to have seen him in their toast, their morning coffee and various other places in the world. 

Anyhow, Elvis impersonators are in abundance, but not all make the cut for engaging a crowd or even having the vocal chops. Our friend Norm Ackland Jr. is multi-talented and pretty top notch in our books. We gathered up Dad, my Mom and brother, Michael, and all of us went to Lakeside Park to support Norm and spent the afternoon tapping away our blue suede shoes!

Family Moments 2015

Family is one of the most important things in my life, so I am taking the time to share a few photos that I took over the weekend. Enjoy!

My Dad loves his flowers, so I took a picture of them all blooming so vibrantly outside. 

My parents. They are really happy living in Tecumseh.
Although I wish my Dad's illness never occurred, it has brought my parents closer together
 in so many ways, not to mention the rest of our family.

What's that, only kids colour? Ha! Adult-colouring helps to promote relaxation and it stimulates the brain in a lot of positive ways.  My Dad was not keen on doing this at first, but it's growing on him. He did a really good job!

My dad is happy to be able to use his computer to keep up with what's going on in the world.

We had a great Sunday afternoon taking a walk. That is usually one of the "must-do" activities when I come over.
I also wanted to snap a "selfie" with my Dad.
This is our first one together. A bit awkward as I looked the wrong way, but I hope you like it. lol

The virus that attacked my dad's brain at the end of 2014 could have taken him away from us. Thankfully, he is still with us and progressing day-by-day.

Bill took this photo on Sunday. My dad's smile lights up the room (and his shirt lol). Oh and yep, he is 40 lbs lighter.

We love you Dad.

Young At Heart Movie Review: I Think I Can

Movie Review

Young at Heart is a documentary about a group of energetic and fun-loving seniors who sing together in a choir to fulfill their own dreams and to touch the lives of other people. The film follows the joys and sorrows of several members as well as the tough decisions that choral director Bob Cilman is faced with.

It is inevitable that this enthusiastic bunch might be preparing for their final performances but the strong devotion and support given to perform with Bob's mentorship with any song thrown at them from Coldplay, Talking Heads, to The Ramones, was incredible, as well as their ability to memorize simple to complex lyrics. 

Two outstanding scenes for me occurred as they sung Bob Dylan's Forever Young for inmates in prison and the emotional rendition of Fix You by Coldplay during the finale.

The message is clear in this movie that it is never too late to be young at heart.

Dating: 7 Months
