Product Review: Does Schmidt's Deodorant Really Stink?

Well, I think many of us can agree that for a multitude of reasons, 2020 stinks, but that doesn’t mean we have to smell foul too, right?

Deodorants are very hit and miss, they can work for a while and then suddenly stop. This can be for many reasons such as the brand trying new formulations and of course the natural changes that our bodies have over time. Hi hormones, yup I am talking to you!

The whole natural movement needs to be looked at with a critical eye though, as it has its own pros and cons. Plus, they can be pretty expensive and not live up to its claims.

Thanks to ChickAdvisor, I was able to try out a sample of Schmidt's Deodorant in the scent Rose and Vanilla.

WOWZERS... this scent is strong! Opening up the lid, you are hit with the smell of roses right off the bat. I honestly couldn’t smell any vanilla but after a few more times of sniffing, it was there, or shall I say barely there.

The application stick was easy to use, just twist once or twice for the product to come to the top, and then swipe each underarm area.

After approximately 8 hours of wear-time today, doing house chores, cooking, and getting in my daily exercise, I’m STILL smelling like roses.

PROS

✔Glides on easily

✔Texture is good. No stickiness or residue left on the skin or my clothing

✔Somewhat effective at curbing sweat, a little goes a long way (I didn’t need to re-apply at all)

✔Cruelty-free

✔Sensitive skin friendly (this may depend on each person as certain scents can evoke an allergic reaction whether synthetic or natural – so still be cautious of a reaction - I usually prefer everything I put on my body to be totally fragrance-free)

✔Reasonably priced, in comparison to many other natural deodorants on the market

Other aspects that may appeal to you:  Cruelty-Free (Leaping Bunny Certified) and Certified Vegan

CONS

❌This particular scent is too strong (although others may like it) for me. If they could reformulate, I would like something much more milder, maybe less rose, more vanilla.  I feel like if I was out in public at an appointment where they have a “scent-free” environment, I’d be asked to leave because it is that potent. Wheeewie!

❌ A bit of that "sweaty" feeling (not scent though) after a few hours in.

💠

So would I ditch my other deodorants and go by this one? Probably not yet. The scent for me is just too overpowering. However, it is so far fairly effective at keeping sweat at bay, so maybe another scent has potential.

A Whole Lotta Love For Our Little Planet: Love Beauty & Planet Haircare Review

Love Beauty and Planet is certainly taking the natural beauty care industry by storm!

As a ChickAdvisor, I received this amazing complimentary package of body wash, shampoo and conditioner that I wanted to share my honest thoughts on.

Body Wash (473 ml)
  • Heavenly scent with the combination of shea butter and sandalwood.
  • Love the pump format.
  • silky texture when applying
  • no residue left on the skin after rinsing off
  • clean and nourishing
  • no irritation (so far!)

Shampoo/Conditioner (400 ml)
  • Again, the scent is wonderful. I never really used anything with sandalwood but you literally feel like you have stepped into a spa when you open up the bottle from this particular line.
  • Wish it came in a pump format
  • Both products have a nice light texture
  • Easy to rinse off
  • See ya dry hair - this conditioner leaves your hair touchably soft
For the packaging overall, I like that the bottle is 100% recycled plastic, even though the cap nor the pump are. With the on-going environmental issues with plastic, it would have been better to have it in a glass bottle that could be reusable. Maybe something to think about in the near future.

The sizes of the bottles are great! A lot of other brands have dinky sizes that may be awesome and effective, but only last a very short period of time. They stand by their cruelty-free and plant-based mantra, yet charge way more! Sorry, i'm still a bit of a budget shopper, so if I am going to pay more than usual for a product, I want it to last! These will be used quite a while in my home and so although it runs a bit higher in price, you do get a lot of product and value!

Other great things about the brand that you may resonate with:

Vegan, cruelty-free, ethically-sourced and plant-based ingredients.

SKIN-tastic: La Roche Posay Ultra Micellar Water for Dry/Reactive Skin

La Roche Posay’s Ultra Micellar Water for Dry/Reactive Skin

La Roche Posay’s Ultra Micellar Water for Dry/Reactive Skin is probably the best product out there on the market right now due to its gentle formula. I #gotitfree from ChickAdvisor for providing an honest product review.

This is a great makeup remover. After soaking a cotton pad (you may need a couple of them if you’re removing a full face of makeup) with the Micellar Water, you can definitely see the amount of makeup that comes off right away without using much pressure at all. My skin was left feeling very refreshed, hydrated and moisturized, probably because of the high amount of glycerin. It also felt so soft and smooth, almost as if I did an exfoliating mask. I'm not really sure about the anti-redness claim since my complexion is naturally rosy at times, but I did notice a reduction in that awkward tightness feel, which was positive.

400 ML seems like a generous amount and not badly priced. You can also opt out for smaller sizes which would be great if you’re travelling. The only extra cost would be the cotton pads. I would have liked if this product could be used like a cleanser with my hands, but a small price to pay for an effective makeup remover like this one.

I’ve been using this all week long and it seems to be working very well. I would say this is a great addition to my skincare routine. I wouldn't toss out my cleanser just yet though because on the days where I don't wear a lot of makeup, I wouldn't reach for the Micellar Water, as I think it is more suitable for the purpose of what it states as a "makeup remover."
