Tea Time at Presotea

Presotea is one of the most popular and successful Taiwanese franchise teahouses, with over 300+ stores in Canada. If you do a quick search, they have multiple stores here in Windsor-Essex County and a new one opened up close by in Tecumseh.

If you’ve never had Boba tea before (rather what many call “Bubble” Tea), it’s something to try out, especially the weirdly enjoyable sensory experience of sucking up the chewy tapioca balls with a straw – at least it is for me!

They have a huge menu to choose from that has so many different tea varieties with delicious fruits like mangoes, pineapples, bananas, passion fruit, etc...  Every tea is freshly brewed when you order, which is great. You can also find little icons next to each drink item, so you know whether it contains ingredients like dairy, eggs, nuts, gluten, caffeine, or even if it can be ordered hot or cold.

The staff were really friendly at the St. Clair Beach location that we went to and more than happy to answer any questions, as this was our first time here. The atmosphere was very bright with all the neon green furniture and I loved all the chalk wall art. No complaints with our drinks either. They were really refreshing and tasty.

We ordered:

Regular sized Passion Fruit Green Tea with tapioca & Lychee Jelly and Cocoa Banana Crème Slush. A bonus is their BOGO offer right now (buy 1 drink, get 1 for 50% off), so you'll want to grab that deal.

With warmer days ahead, I'm looking forward to our next bubble tea adventure soon!

Windsor Restaurant Review - A Middle Eastern Delight: Windsor Palace

Not all Middle Eastern restaurants are the same. We have an abundance of them here in Windsor and they all have their own unique style, whether it’s a totally different take on traditional hummus, or even how certain dishes are prepared.  This time, we tried a new family-owned place called Windsor Palace, on 755 Wyandotte St East, here in Windsor, Ontario, which was highly recommended by our friend Matt, who dined with us.

The menu is fairly large and so you can get everything from chicken and lamb to falafel plates and shawarma sandwiches.

To start with, we had this delicious half and half soup, which was a combination of lentils and chicken.  Very mild taste with a nice thick texture and so tasty.

Our appetizer plate consisted of a mix of hummus, tabouli, fattoush and baba ghanouj. Also to note, their pita bread is incredibly soft.  The worst is hard, stale tasting pita that you have to gnaw into and eat. We pretty much polished off most of the appetizer.

Instead of ordering individual meals, Matt suggested that we just split the BBQ chicken with biryani rice and curry.  A great choice and wow was there a lot of food! The chicken was perfectly cooked and I just love biryani rice.

The service was excellent and the prices are reasonable for the quantity and quality, so I really cannot say there is improvement needed in any way from this experience.

Windsor Palace is ideal for just about any occasion. It has a casual elegance and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant was rather busy when we arrived, so go early or make reservations!

They also have another new location out in Tecumseh at 12 Amy Croft Drive, which I am certain will make the residents of Tecumseh very happy.

Oh and we are currently scoping out spots for the ideal place to host our wedding reception, so I think we are definitely keeping this one in mind!

Have you been here before? Did you like it, loathe it? Tell me about YOUR experience!

Make sure to "like" Windsor Palace on Facebook!

Father's Day 2017

Well we had a really special Father's Day this year. Bill suggested that we take my Dad to see Elvis perform! Of course, not the real Elvis (he is deceased) although some people claim to have seen him in their toast, their morning coffee and various other places in the world.

Anyhow, Elvis impersonators are in abundance, but not all make the cut for engaging a crowd or even having the vocal chops. Our friend Norm Ackland Jr. is multi-talented and pretty top notch in our books. We gathered up Dad, my Mom and brother, Michael, and all of us went to Lakeside Park to support Norm and spent the afternoon tapping away our blue suede shoes!

A great shot captured by my Dad of Elvis (aka Norm) performing

Hilarious video footage I took of Bill and another audience member shakin' it! :)

Summer Time

Just wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone who reads my blog and post a few photos and updates. I hope your summer is going well!  Feel free to send me your photos of what you've been up to so far, I would love to see them.

I got treated to yummy Shrimp and Noodle Salad from Lilly Kazzilly's, Man, this salad was delish!

A couple photos taken in May. Note, my Mom sure rocks her Sugar Bear t-shirt.

Dad is doing really well. Recovery is still happening, especially dealing with short-term memory lapses, but doctors are pretty amazed by his on-going progress!

After moving my parents and going through their enormous amount of clutter at the old house, it was time to make a decision and for the last while or so, we've been really occupied getting ready to put my brother's house up for sale this time. It is a new chapter in his life, so that means purging and starting fresh.

That's it for now. I will blog again soon. :)

Updates and spiritual greetings

I apologize for not blogging. If you've been following along, you know that back before Christmas 2014, my dad was stricken with a virus called Encephalitis, which caused severe inflammation in his brain. Chances are 2 in a million, but the amazing team of specialists at Hotel Dieu hospital were able to help save his life. Since getting out of the hospital, my dad has made great strides of improvement.

Looking at the date; May 15, 2015, my dad is still with us and recovering well. I will write more about the last several months in future posts.  Right now, we are in the process of moving my parents out of their three-story home, into a smaller yet lovely one-floor townhouse. There is a basement, but that's used for storage. It is a huge transition, but one that is needed, not only for my dad, but so my mom can take care of him without dealing with all the maintenance that comes with home ownership. A plus is that we met several of the neighbours, and they are extremely friendly and welcoming.

My parents house sold in less than a week! Buckingham Realty rocks.

New home in Tecumseh. Welcome to condo living!

My dad just turned 70 yesterday, and driving to the house, I caught a glimpse of this gorgeous rainbow cloud.

The spirits in the sky were saying Happy Birthday! :)

That's it for now. I will update again soon.  Thanks to all my readers for such kind words and messages.

Oh and just so you know, when my dad took permanent leave, as a writer for Windsor Square, I decided to take that path as well. My musings will continue to be on Blogger from this point on, so once things settle down, you'll get to enjoy some more restaurant, movie and product reviews from me.
