March 2021 Movie Buffet: Pick and Choose!

Another month to share some inspiring movies that you may want to check out!

Charlie and Boots. Definitely a great little Aussie road-trip film to enjoy!

There's a lot of emotion to unpack in this movie that on the surface seems predictable, but it's actually a lot deeper as you go along.  Paul Hogan and Shane Jacobson are a great duo playing father and son. There are plenty of laughs throughout and the scenery shown just makes you want to pack your bags and head down under!

Duck is heart-breaking and heart-healing.  It is also humanity at its cruelest and its kindness. Philip Baker Hall is fantastic never trying too hard, just letting his emotions flow with the scenes. Many life lessons are woven into the story, along with the most special friendship that is just too adorable for words. I think that should resonate with many people either on a conscious or even unconscious level.

Choose the side you want to be in the world. Be that friend, help a stranger, don't expect anything in return and yet when you do get something, be grateful. Humility is a virtue. I don't want to say anymore, except just watch it and if you get the chance to encounter a webbed-footed friend, please name it Joe.

Complete Unknown. The movie gives off a vibe where you're not sure if this is becoming a fatal attraction type of scenario or a mind-bending time-travel flick, but there are a lot of subtle nuances that lead you down several different paths. There is a lot of intensity and suspense that manages to keep you on your toes. Michael Shannon is a fantastic actor and so coupled with Rachel Weisz, a great match. One idea in the movie of being "stuck" in one's own body or one's perceived identity is interesting too, as it leaves a lot of questions to ponder.  A good one to check out.

The Big Bad Swim  This is an independent film that you'll want to stick around for. The trailer doesn't really do justice for how endearing the movie really is that revolve around a group of adults who enroll in a swimming class together. It was really touching with interesting characters that you want to invest in and learn about their personal stories. It's not all a drama fest though, it has tons of comedic and maybe even some uncomfortable should-I-laugh-at-that" moments. The main feeling behind the film for me was that no matter what life throws at us, just keep on swimming.
