The Reality of Loneliness

Have you ever felt really different from everyone else? Past the fact that maybe you didn't have your first real drink until you were actually legal age, or never touched a cigarette, or even knew how to roll a joint. That feeling of being out of place doesn't wear off easily. It tends to carry on, no matter how hard you try and fit in.

If you think the cliques and those mean girls (and boys) don't exist, better get your head out of the clouds. They are out in full force, complete with their cute kids, fur animals, and smiling Instagram pics.

It is isolating to think that you are part of somebody's life but shunned ever so slightly. It's that gradual progression, where you think you're maybe just paranoid but in fact, you know it's happening and the only thing you can do is just take the high road.

You find people who do care or the fleeting illusion of what you hold onto because you just don't want to be alone. There are those times though when you don't find anyone worth while at all to even grab a cup of coffee with. Instead of pretending, you get that gentle reminder of why in this life sometimes you just have to be your own best friend.

Just some musings on a Friday night.
