9 1/2 Weeks Movie Review: I Saw Myself In You

Movie Review:

9 ½ Weeks is a story about two people named John (Mickey Rourke) and Elizabeth (Kim Basinger) who embark on a journey of exploration together, which ultimately holds a higher price than either had expected to pay.

At the beginning, the forlorn-style narration in the film reminded me a bit of the popular series; Red Shoe Diaries. Anyone watching this movie cannot deny the insatiable sexual appetite between both characters.

The fine details put into each seduction scene from the cinematography all the way to the song choices were amazing, in particular, the intimate scene playing “Slave to Love” by Bryan Ferry in the background.

No boundary was too far to push and in those rare moments, you could see the glimpse of emotional connection that Mickey Rourke's character cautiously reveals to the audience as well as Elizabeth’s emotional turmoil of what lies ahead if she decides to continue to be a pawn in John's diabolical games.

This would be an ideal movie to watch with a lover or even by yourself, because you don't have to think twice about leaving your hat on.
