8 Year Anniversary

Bill is the most genuine person I have ever met in my life. He is my best friend and partner and continues to make my heart burst with happiness. Even on my worst days, he has the true gift of making me laugh.

Although it took us a very long time to have our first kiss, it was truly worth the wait.

Happy 8 year anniversary honey!

I love you and I hope to spend many more years together!

Another first.  "Let's go fly a kite!"

Bill surprised me with a wonderful kite flying adventure.

Cosmetics Review: Katy Kat Collection Collab With CoverGirl

Well I had the opportunity to be a BzzAgent for the new and exciting Katy Kat Collection, which was a collaboration with one of the top rated make-up lines; CoverGirl, and artist Katy Perry. These are the goodies I received in the mail!

I chose the following 2:

Kitty Purry lipstick:

Pros:

  • Packaging is very simplistic
  • Good amount of product
  • Lipstick lid snaps shut and stays in place after usage - hurray, no mess in my purse!
  • Light scent, but not overpowering
  • Creamy texture with the shea butter
  • Price is reasonable at $10.99
  • Glides on lips easily with a demi-matte finish that is rather natural looking
Cons:
  • The colour looks a bit different from the swatches online. Much lighter pink colour.
  • You need to apply fairly often since the colour really fades over the course of a day

Katy Kat Mascara  - Perry Blue

Pros:

  • Wand is a good size and offers a comfortable grip
  • Easy to apply product
  • Volumizes lashes to some extent
  • Doesn't clump or flake even in humid conditions (we've certainly had a hot & humid summer!)
  • Understated with little flecks of blue tint throughout my lashes (the other black mascaras in the collection might have shown up more bold, but I wanted to test out electric blue!)
  • Non-irritating after removing with eye makeup remover (at least for me, others may react differently, so just be cautious!)
Cons:
  • Not as dramatic as expected. Several coats needed to really get that "electric" blue to stand out. Probably best with a thick layer of eye liner as well for a bolder look.
  • After a while, your lashes do feel a bit stiff.

Overall I enjoyed trying out these products. I would probably prefer a black mascara as that usually gives a more intense look to my eye without having to use any eye liner at all. The lipstick at first I didn't like because I felt it was too light but I received a lot of compliments and so the colour started to grow on me!  I guess I could layer on another colour and see how that looks too.

Thanks Bzzagent for another fun campaign! :)

Food Review: A crunchy bite with Flamingo!

It's really great when I come across a product line that offers delicious quality and taste because I know many people are always looking for easier ways to get dinner on the table.  Sometimes it's awesome to cook from scratch, but other times, if you can find a quick and healthy meal option that won't break your budget, why not?

Well I'd like to introduce you to a fantastic company that has been around for over 50 years and sought after by those in Québec, called Flamingo. Available all across Ontario now too, they offer a large selection of chicken and turkey products that you can see on their product list here: http://www.flamingo.ca/en/products

I have only tried the Breaded Chicken breast Strips so far, but after purchasing one box, I went out and got another because they were so good! Sadly, most of the other varieties seem to be out of stock all the time, so I haven't been able to really experiment with other products, but I would like to.

A few things to mention:
  • Flamingo prides itself on offering many gluten-free options.  Personally, this was not a deciding factor for me, but if you or a loved one does suffer from Celiac Disease, I would highly recommend checking out this brand
  • The bread coating is made from puffed rice! I love the crunchiness too.
  • Far less greasy than most breaded chicken strips that I have tried in the past.
  • Lower in sodium (always a good thing!)
  • Place into the oven for about 20-25 minutes, make sure to flip over half way, cook the rest of the time and you're done.
  • Happy that they didn't stick to the tinfoil like many other frozen food products
  • Bake in the oven the whole batch and then use the rest for leftovers, which turns out great.
  • I really enjoyed dipping them into a honey mustard sauce for added flavour.
  • Breaded and unbreaded varieties are available

My only negative is that the price can be a little high at $10 per box, BUT they always seem to have promotions going on and if you can get a coupon (I lucked out on getting a $3 off coupon) and see a discount sale in-store, you can't beat that! Plus they are a healthier alternative than a lot of other frozen chicken products that are loaded with sodium and really greasy, so that is something to keep in mind.

Music: Peace Train

Perhaps the world needs a little bit of this?

SHARE and enjoy.

Now I've been happy lately
Thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be
Something good has begun
I've been smiling lately
Dreaming about the world as one
And I believe it could be
Something good's bound to come

For out on the edge of darkness
There runs the peace train
Peace train take this country
Come take me home again

Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
Come on the peace train
Peace train's a holy roller
Everyone jump upon the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
This is the peace train

Get your bags together
Come bring your good friends too
Because it's getting nearer
Soon it will be with you
Come and join the living
It's not so far from you
And it's getting nearer
Soon it will all be true

Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
Come on the peace train

I've been crying lately
Thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating?
Why can't we live in bliss?

For out on the edge of darkness
There rides the peace train
Peace train take this country
Come take me home again

Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
Come on the peace train

Come on, come on, come on the peace train
